Large increases in demands for forest-oriented recreation have made land managers sharply aware of their responsabilities to meet those demands. Forest recreation is a new and driving influence in the management of forest lqands within the United States. It is beset by many uncertainties thad need solution. Research has just begun to give land managers and technicians the answers that they need to cope with recreational needs of the American public.
